Black Thursday is Sasha’s “origin story.” This prequel short story takes place during her first Thanksgiving as a first-year associate at the Prescott & Talbot law firm. We all have formative moments in our lives, experiences that shape our outlooks. This is Sasha’s.

Note: This story was originally published in the February 2013 issue of the Southwestern Law School Journal of Legal Education and was a winner of the Journal's Legal Fiction Contest.

A small but mighty litigator

If you are a reader just beginning the Sasha series, this very short story introduces you you her determination, driving work ethic, and commitment. She over compensates for her diminutive size with her fierce competitiveness and sacrifices time with her family to fulfill her obligations to her career. She is one of my favorite literary characters of all time, and I urge you to get to know her and follow the development of her character. I own every book Melissa Miller has written about her to date and even named my cat Sasha. I highly recommend this series (as well as the Bodhi King series).
